Uncover the Cotswolds - New opportunities to promote Tourism in the Cotswolds

January 25, 2019

The following information will be of interest to those members who operate within the tourism trade and who offer premium activity based tours or experiences to small groups.

On Tuesday a number of ExCo members attended a training course given by Cotswold Tourism and funded by the government who have allocated £40M to support the growth of tourism in the Cotswolds. The project has been titled “Uncover the Cotswolds”.

The purpose of the project is to build a website that targets on line travel agents in the Nordic, Spanish and Italian countries and to offer a “bookable tangible product”. There will be a negotiable fee of 10%-30% charged by the travel agents in these countries that choose to buy/sell your product.

It has been identified that the UK lags behind in utilising on line tools to target foreign business opportunities. The project committee has identified the above countries as being compatible with our Cotswold offerings and demographics.

The project committee is looking for 90 Cotswold businesses to sign up to the website initiative.

If you are able to offer a niche high end activity, experience or tour for 4-15 people this project may be of interest to you. A projected spend of £35 to £50+ per person was seen as in the likely price point area, in other words it is an experience of above average worth.

If you would like to know more about this exciting opportunity please contact Susie Hunt, Partnership Manager of Cotswold Tourism at Susie.hunt@cotswold.gov.uk. or emailcotswoldstourism@cotswold.gov.uk as soon as possible as the deadlines are extremely tight. Their website is https://www.cotswolds.com/information/media.
