Round up from this months breakfast networking

April 19, 2018

There was a good attendance at the meeting despite it being in the middle of the school holidays.

We are pleased to announce a new member to the committee, Sue Scorer, of The Bay Tree at Campden.  Being a trader on the High Street she will be an invaluable asset.

Arthur Cunynghame gave a report on the car parking survey results and the Forum’s recommendations to the Town Council. The Town Council is conducting further investigations into the proposed disc free limited parking proposal and further discussions are scheduled to progress the matter. You can read more about the proposal HERE.

Steve Spencer gave an update on the various Social Media workshops we have out together this year in partnership with Red Lemon and Pineapple White Media – a suite of modules running through the year. Booking is done through our Events page on our website.

A business called Green Measures has approached the Forum and its members with regards to a project they are working on called Visit England, to promote England’s Great Walking Trails to markets overseas. If there are any members that are geared up for welcoming walkers or might be interested in benefitting from this project you can email them HERE

PCSO Paul Hancock from Gloucestershire Constabulary gave a report and information following a spate of crime in Chipping Campden in the last few weeks, mainly the One Stop and Co-Op businesses.  He stressed that all suspected crime must be reported to the 101 number immediately or online at Neighbourhood Alert HERE . This also provides a crime number which ensures that the report is fully logged.

The Town Council are actively looking into implementing a CCTV system in Chipping Campden. It was suggested that all businesses become linked into a Whats App system where any business that suspects something suspicious in anyway on their premises can send a message that immediately goes out to all those linked in.  It was also suggested that the person that triggers that initial alert is then responsible for passing this directly to the police via either 101, 999, or Neighbourhood Alert.

Currently the North Cotswolds Police do not operate via What’s App.  If any of the businesses wish to become involved in this scheme then please do contact us so that we could get this activated.  It appears to be a good way of informing all businesses linked in very quickly.

Susie Hunt and Chris Jackson of Cotswold Tourism gave a presentation.  For full contact details and information if anyone is interested you contact them HERE

Paula Lingard revealed plans for the Made in the Cotswolds event which takes place on September 15th and 16th this year.  Numbers are substantially up each year for those participating and full details can again be found on their website HERE.  We will also include further information in our next newsletter about how members cna get incolved.

"I just wanted to say the meeting this morning was excellent. The content was very good and I do not know how your speakers managed to fit so much information into such short presentation times, as I think they all had only about 45 mins between them, I had a  lot to do this morning and nearly did not attend, but I am so glad I did.

Thanks to the committee and other organising members – you are doing a great job keeping it all going. Many people join organisations but do not have much input, so it can seem they do not care what you are trying to achieve, but it is often that they are glad you are doing it, they just don’t see they need to show support. Thanks again for all your work and time."

Gené Jeffrey, Brymbo B&B

Please do EMAIL us if any of these topics appear to be of interest to you and you require further information.

The Next Breakfast Meeting will be on Tuesday June 20th at BRI.  Do note the change of venue. You can book your place now HERE.

We are also aware that some members find it difficult to attend morning networking events and have requested we hold some in the evenings.  If you would like to amend the timing of some events to early evening please send an EMAIL us and if we receive more than 20 requests we will amend the schedule accordingly.

We look forward to the next Networking.
