All couples who are separating or divorcing are required to attend mediation to settle disputes about child arrangements, property and finances before going to court. Catherine Frances is an award-winning mediator, accredited by the Family Mediation Council, who works with couples to help them reach agreement on all aspects of their separation or divorce, and prevent them using the lengthy and expensive court process for a judge to make decisions for them. At the end of mediation, Catherine writes a Summary of Proposals document, which can be submitted to the court for a judge to turn into a legally enforceable court order. Part of Catherine’s role is to ensure that what is agreed in mediation is something that a court will sanction.
Catherine is registered to apply for Ministry of Justice Mediation Vouchers to cover the cost of mediation involving child arrangements, and is qualified and experienced in speaking with young people so their voice is heard as part of the mediation/separation process when appropriate.
